Provides more nutritious produce. When the harvest is closer to maturity and ripened state it does not have to endure a long process to reach the shelf like with commercial stores.

Cuts costs of transportation. Carbon gas emissions are not as heavily prevalent if we rely on local farms. Less energy is needed for storage (refridgeration) and shippment.

Supports small businesses and maintains the livelihoods of farmers that compete against larger corporations. Their traditional practices are overlooked, yet it benefits the planet and the public.
